Spring Gray

I know that spring is usually all about nudes and blushes, the occasional polka dot, and a sprinkling of floral patterns but I’ve got a put in a plug for gray this season, especially during this transitional bit before it becomes really warm out. Whether it’s a soft heather tone or a more steely hue, I’ve always been a fan of touches of gray (either as solid colors or the visual result of a blending of black and white patterns). Here’s my take on gray for spring and here are a few other great gray items on my spring wishlist from ModCloth.

jumper: TK Maxx, Cambridge / cardigan: Zara

Now, gray and black is great for those who like to wear them. I like to look at them on other people, but do not like to wear a lot of gray or black.

So. I have spent several hours this weekend looking for a suit to potentially wear at job interviews. The logic is that if I start early I will be less stressed. My conclusion is that anyone who is a size 16 or 18 is apparently not allowed to wear anything that is not gray or black, and most certainly not something that is well cut. The fashion world seems to assume that sizes 16+ are shaped like balls. While an attractive shape, and all, I have an hourglass curvy shape, and nothing works. And they do not work in grays and blacks. How I wished I had your love and capacity for these colors!

Next fall: interview outfit workshops!?

I do like how grey looks in the warmer months, I don't think it's a shade only for winter, and although it's hard to do grey and exciting I like how you have done this one. The leopard print provides the fun with an all grey ensemble, and I really like it.

Miti - it can definitely be hard sometimes to find business wear that's flattering in larger sizes but I absolutely think it's out there! You should let me take you on a little shopping excursion to places like Ann Taylor and Banana Republic that have a lot to offer in this regard - and remember that you always opt for a smart black suit and add a jewel toned blouse or statement necklace to get a pop of color in there - both of which will also draw attention to your face which is good in an interview setting!

I love the pleated skirt in the last photo and have actually been looking for something similar for a while now.

And that leopard print cardigan is wonderful. I think it would be so cute paired with skinny jeans too.

I love grey. Then again, I'm a total neutrals person when it comes to clothes. Most of the time. Sometimes, I surprise myself.

That gray midi skirt is a winner for sure. I think heather gray is probably my favorite neutral. I think it works well for fall/winter, but also pairs perfectly with all those sugary sweet spring colors.

I think grey is a nice spring transitional color, especially if you wanted to pair it with oh say some turquoise or yellow (or both!)

You've got some seriously cute things on your wishlist - I hope that heat tank and pencil skirt find their way to your closet!
