All the Frills Fridays: Cartography

When I was little my Dad had this amazing antique looking globe that I used to be totally fascinated with. It got consigned to a garage sale bin when my parents sold their house about eight years ago and I’ve wanted a globe of my very own ever since. Enter this beauty that my awesome helpmeet surprised me with recently!

And here a few links that I’ve stumbled across over the past week that engrossed me:

What a beautiful globe! Growing up, I used the globe from my mom's childhood, which still showed countries like Siam and Ceylon. At the time it seemed dated, but I must admit that looking back, it was quite charming.

I must admit I have a similar love of globes. Maybe it's because of my poor sense of direction and the fact that I nearly didn't pass geography in the 7th grade, there is something about them that I love, and love to look at. There was a gorgeous standing one at TJMaxx years ago for a couple hundred dollars that I pined after for months and months. I simply didn't have the space, but maybe someday.
