Timing...and Why I Lack It

The upside to warmer temperatures is a return to semi-regular outdoor photos.

In other, unrelated news, I got offered a one year contract as an assistant professor of early modern European history at an institution where I really wanted to work. And I had to turn it down. Because, while I would have jumped at this chance a year or two ago, having a permanent, steady, reasonably fulfilling job that pays well and allows me to buy a house and be planning a trip to Scotland is just too good to walk away from for a one year gig, no matter how good the opportunity seems. But that doesn't mean I'm not still cursing the horrible timing of all this and consuming a healthy amount of wine and cheese (okay, it's probably not a healthy amount, but give a girl a break).

Timing... sometimes it seems like it couldn't get worse. But in the end, it always turns out to have been for the best. Even if it takes a while to become obvious :)

This just means we'll get to hang out longer! Congratulations on your new digs, I can't wait to hear all about it.

Ugh, that sucks! But yes, just think about the house and trip to Scotland .And the fact that another opportunity will arise soon that will be more permanent :)

Cute dress, love the print! And it sounds like you made the right decision, as hard as it was. Being a grown-up is tough sometimes! Now that I'm in my 30's, security is very important to me and it sounds like it is to you too ; ).

Yes, a trip to Scotland and a nice house would be great vs. a one year gig. There is something else wonderful around the corner in the near future. you! :)

I am not sure anyone could walk away from what you currently have for a 1 year gig. I definitely couldn't.

You look incredible. I love the print on your dress.

Timing problems = worst. But hopefully something more permanent will come along down the line!

Firstly, congrats on the offer! Timing does suck, but it's also a great feeling to be offered a job! I hope you totally cheesed and wined out and then thought about how awesome it would be to fill your new home with more awesome stuff and all the awesome things you'll be doing in Scotland!
