All the Frills: Adieu to Adornment

I recently dramatically downsized my nail polish collection. Ever since I got too big with pregnancy to comfortably paint my toes, I’ve been painting both my finger and toe nails a lot less and so I finally decided it was time to prune my collection and keep only my most favourite shades. To make myself feel better after having to make so many difficult decisions, I bought a super cute little box from Ikea to store my reduced collection of varnishes in.

Do you frequently paint your finger or toenails?

Also, in other news, I recently had a piece published with a digital humanities initiative called The Map of Early Modern London. It's on Queen Anna of Denmark and you can read it here after June 9, when it goes live.

Additionally (and I'm really excited about this one), a new book on Anna of Denmark and Henrietta Maria recently came out and the author cites me and my VERY early on Anna of Denmark that I published ages ago in this journal called Quidditas. It was a pretty nice surprise!

I used to paint my nails all the time, I miss it but it just does not last at the gym. It chips within a day!!
So exciting about your work being featured in a few different places.
Whelp those articles made me sad about dogs, it’s incredibly upsetting. I think dogs are the best and it makes me so sad that people could raise them to be so violent. Duke is the most docile and loving creature in the world.

I'm addicted to painting my nails. I'm not sure I could get rid of any of mine, haha. Toes are always painted but I do give my fingers a break from time to time.
that box is super cute!

I make an effort to paint my nails or get a mani because if i don't have them painted i will most likely bite my nails.
While I do get a pedi i no longer have my toe nails painted...
Oh and I have at least 15 shades at home and am currently downsizing too.

I have the same exact box! I loved the styling of it, I bought the tiny one and a big one as well - just for show, have nothing to keep there. I very rarely paint my nails on my fingers, and on toes... I think I painted it once or twice in my life, don't really like it colored. You have a lot of nail polishes, I have two or three and resigned from buying more.

How incredibly cool to be cited in someone else's work - well done you! I paint my nails fairly regularly at home but my collection of varnishes are pretty minimal. I did a similar clean out a few years ago and I have to admit, I've never regretted it. I don't own a single shade I don't love and use repeatedly.
