An Afternoon at the Athenaeum
After four years of living a 45 minute drive away from Hartford I finally made a trip to the Wadsworth Athenaeum, one of Hartford’s best art museums. Despite the rain, it was a fantastic day (I saw an amazing light installation piece that just totally wowed me and took in the Reunited Masterworks exhibit which reunited art pieces spanning four centuries that were executed as pairs but later split up and located in different collections). Afterwards I took a stroll through the city’s central graveyard (which is the resting place of early puritan settlers and has grave stones dating back to the seventeenth century). I did learn one valuable lesson though: don’t go wandering through graveyards in the rain wearing heeled boots – I must have punctured a thousand divots in that graveyard, sorry puritans!

I Want MoMA!
A wise friend of mine recently remarked, “just when I think I've completely conquered the lure and magnetism of unnecessary consumerism, I get handed a MoMA design store catalogue. ouf.” Well I was the jerk who handed her the MoMA catalogue and, really, who can blame me – some of the items for sale are wonderful, like these egg candles!

Birthday Bash
Today is my 30th birthday!!!!! And, with the exception of the raging head cold that I somehow managed to contract, I feel great. I hope the next decade of my life is a fun and fashionable one. In order to celebrate, I rounded up some close friends and a tiara (which I did not wear out of the house – although I sort of felt like it because I’m the birthday girl damn it) and went out for a night of pear martinis and pitchers of mojitos.
I also invented a delightful blue cocktail which I am planning to call a "Courtney Colada" (patent pending).
