It’s been off and on rainy over the last weeks and this was from one of those “I think it might rain so let’s do photos inside, oh crap now it looks really sunny out, oh well I resign myself to the indoor photos” kind of photos. Sorry, my bad.

This was sort of a sloppy, running errands kind of outfit from a week or so ago before it started to get ungodly muggy on the East Coast. As much as I really, really want the weather to cool off, I will miss this much greenery on campus.
Today is, of course, Tuesday (aka, the day I have to be on campus for 11 hours running from place to place) and so my mind is wandering to happier things (although I'd be lying is I said I wasn't looking forward to leading my students in an hour long discussion of the rhetoric/reality of Spartan hegemony in the ancient Greek world). After seeing all the sparkly fashions at the recent Emmys, I am obsessed anew with Elie Tahari. Here’s the Spring 2012 collection …
I love this black, white, and grey leopard print dress for fall – slap on some boots and a cardigan and I am set! I wore this once or twice in the summer on grey and rainy days but it’s definitely more of a fall dress and I’m thrilled that I’ll soon be getting more wear out of it. Do you have any favorite fall pieces that are now coming to the front of your closet rotation?

Fall is officially in full swing in New Haven and this gal could not be happier! But just because the seasons are a-changing doesn’t mean you have to pack away all the summer stuff just yet. I’m transitioning this summer dress to fall wear by pairing it with a scarf and velvet bolero. I’m all about solutions.
I recently attended a fairly depressing meeting in my department regarding the state of the job market. It was a downer. And I suspected it would be going in so I opted to dress similarly somber. It helped.
I figure there’s only a few more weeks of truly nice weather so I wanted to get in one more wear of this dress before fall and winter really hit. It love the adorable bird detail on the shoulders of this dress – the fabric is also light weight and comfortable and, even though I’ve owned the dress for years, it still fits like a dream and hits me in just the perfect spot. Basically it’s my go-to summer dress!
This is what I wore to a recently held welcome back reception that my department was hosting for returning faculty and students. I love the whole shorts and boots look and the coral blazer just adds a great visual twist.

Also, Rodarte anyone? This collection reminded me of Van Gogh … and that’s never a bad thing in my book.
Tuesdays are fast becoming a nightmare for me. I work at my part time job from 10-12:30, then go to lecture for the class I teach for from 1-2:30, then it’s back to my part time job for a 3-6 shift, then I teach section from 7-8 pm. So it’s not only a really long day but none of the breaks in-between places I have to be are actually long enough to grab some food. So I eat a lot of crackers, carrots, and almonds while I walk (quickly) from building to building. So Tuesdays are my “dress comfortable because it’s a long, tiring day involving a ton of walking” days which is why I opted for this last week. It’s obviously a fairly casual look but it’s definitely comfy and I think still polished enough to teach in.

And feast your eyes on the gorgeousness that is the look book for Ulyana Sergeenko’s debut collection a/w 2011. I am stunned.
