All the Frills: Cuff Collection

Clearly I have a thing for cuffs. It’s my small way of keeping a bit of punk style (but in an elevated, more mature form) in my wardrobe. Plus, sparkly!!!!!

That Maxi Dress I Bought From Amazon

So I invested in this maxi dress from Amazon (I know, I know), after reading Kendi’s review of it. And while it of course looks like 900 times better on her than me (obviously), I have to say I’m glad I took the plunge with this. It was super cheap, arrived quickly in the mail, and actually does fit pretty well. Plus the material is very soft and comfy for the heat and it has pockets, which is one of my favourite features in dresses.

Injecting Some Colour

Hell must have frozen as I broke with my standard all black look and opted for a touch of green (which, after black, is hands down my favourite colour). Hey, you gotta mix it up every now and again, right?

Summer No More

I absolutely love this black maxi dress I scored from Nordstrom’s – it was a bit chilly out when I took these photos in the morning so I unfortunately never took my jacket off. It’s just such a comfy piece and, best of all, has pockets (which I immensely appreciate in my dresses). Of course now it's basically winter where I am so looks like I'll be packing this dress away for the season now.

Getting in a Few More Sandal Wears

Just like my trusty leopard flats, a black sandal with a touch of heel is another closet staple for me. And now that I’m driving to work everyday (I’m in charge of getting Eleanor to and from childcare each day so driving is essential) rather than having a 50 minute bus commute that always involves lots of standing, it’s much easier to be in heels for a good portion of the day without being in utter agony.

The weather here is also now officially turning cool (there's even talk of some light snow in the next few days) and, while I'm thrilled for the onset of fall, I'm also trying to just get in a few more wears of sandals before I pack them all up until next May.

Are you excited for fall weather or sad to see summer go?

All the Frills: Eleanor, Eleanor, Eleanor

Sometimes Eleanor’s cuteness just blows my mind and makes my heart feel like it might explode.

Closet Rules

As I was saying in my last post, given that I predominantly wear all black, I appreciate accessories and pieces of clothing that inject a bit of visual interest into my outfits. I’m also a huge leopard print junkie. And, for those reasons, I always have a pair of leopard print shoes in my closet and have maintained this closet rule since about 2004. They are my go-to shoes and always look perfect with whatever all black outfit I’m planning for the day.

It's All In The Details

I really love this faux pearl collared blouse. Given that I gravitate to all black outfits about 98% of the time (and I don’t see that changing anytime soon), I really appreciate pieces that have little details like this that break up the monotony caused by all black, all the time outfits.

The Pineapple of Fate

I am so obsessed with this bedazzled pineapple t-shirt it’s bordering on the ridiculous. This is going to sound insanely weird but it’s a long running joke with my helpmeet and some of my friends that, one day, my death will be the result of someone caving in my skull with a Svarowski crystal pineapple because they just can’t take me anymore (macabre, I know, but it has a funny origin story and is now just a long running group joke between us). So basically I feel like I’m tempting fate in this shirt.

If Looks Could Kill, I'd Watch You Die

Well, it’s going to be nearly impossible to top this classic example of my resting bitch face. Seriously, this second photo of me screams “if looks could kill, I’d watch you die.” And I sort of love it.
