Even I'm Ready For Winter to End
Worn in the midst of the polar vortex that made things like -40 or worse with the windchill for days on end. Gotta stay warm…not pictured are my winter jacket, double pairs of gloves, head swallowing scarf, and hat. It’s been grim here.

Birthday Fun
One of my best friends turned 40 a few weeks ago and had a birthday party so I got all dolled up and braved the -40 weather to celebrate with them. And I thought I’d gotten some decent outfit shots because I honestly felt like a million bucks this night – my hair was in good shape (and that NEVER happens with my hair) and my red eyeshadow looked killer and I loved my velvet dress – but I sort of really hate all the photos I got. Literally, this is a best one. And that’s a bummer (there’s, of course, also the possibility that I didn’t look as a great as I felt but I refuse to even entertain that idea; I felt great and so I looked great and I’m 100% convinced of that; also I objectively had fun, as this other photo suggests).

Baby Talk
So Eleanor isn’t talking yet, really (I mean she knows “uh oh” and “mom mom” and “da da” but that’s about it – I guess maybe “tocks,” which I’m pretty sure means “socks”) but she LOVES to vocalize. She’s hilariously loud with all her baby babble and I was trying to sneak in some outfit photos while she was happily playing with a book a few feet away but she wasn’t having any of it and decided to little baby drunk stumble her way over and start making a series of very load, nonsensical proclamations. It all resulted in a series of great photos.

All the Frills: The Personalized Necklace
I swear, I bought this necklace to eventually give to Eleanor. But she’s far too young for stuff like this now, so I’ll just wear it the meantime. That’s fine, right?
Weekend Reading:
Weekend Reading:
- This story about the discovery of a historical mural in Paris fills me with delight. And makes me wish something like this was lurking behind one of my walls.
- Guys, I am a Law and Order junkie.
- This is an incredibly important acquisition – and the stats the offer about ignorance of the Holocaust in Canada are shocking and saddening.
- Now, will the medical community work to actually communicate this to women and redo prescription packaging, etc?
- The social tyranny of being a “fit” mom.

Dark Days
Again, the lightening for these early morning photos is bad (the goods news is both that winter is almost over and the sun will soon start to rise earlier, and I’m going to invest in some indoor lighting solutions) so you can’t really tell that this jacket is an amazingly deep and rich green colour. But I’ll capture a better photo sometime soon – I swear!
In other news, the last few weeks at work have been an absolute cluster fuck (pardon my French but, trust me, it’s a more than accurate description) so I’m enjoying my time away from the office in the evenings and no weekends immensely and hoping things improve soon – which I trust they will because they almost always do (or at least we adapt to the situation in time and so things don’t seem as bad).

Snakeskin
The lightening in my living room at 7 am when I’m getting ready to leave for work and it’s still pitch black out (one of a number of lovely things associated with living in northern Canada) may be crappy, but it doesn’t affect my love for this Zara snakeskin pattern dress, which I picked up as a little post-Christmas gift to myself using some gift cards I received.

All the Frills: Drowning In Velvet
There’s a chance I now own too many velvet/velour pieces. Just a chance. Especially when you consider that two pairs of pants in the same material are not even pictured here…

Weekend Reading:
- Just your weekly reminder that we need better maternal care.
- This seems like possibly a bad idea.
- I very much endorse this Latin translation of Baby Shark … which is a song I unfortunately listen to like 10 times a day, at least.
- This family’s swathe of destruction while on vacation was hilarious to read about.

RBF for Life!
Guys, my unapologetic resting bitch face game is on point … and I love it! I'm such a crank.
