All the Frills: Plate Edition

So I’m mildly obsessed with these nautical themed plastic plates – they’re basically Eleanor’s dish set (don’t trust a toddler who throws things with anything other than plastic plates) but I think I need a second set that I use exclusively…

Say Cheese!

I was very excited to be wearing this cozy poncho that I was gifted for Christmas and thought I could get in a quick photo or two on my way out the door in the morning. Eleanor had other plans. I love that when I desperately want her to hold still for a minute or two so I can get a decent photo of her it just will not happen but when I’m actually content for her to stay out of frame she immediately wants to pose.

I Can't Resist

In other news, after a week of temperatures that dipped into the -40s, the forecast now calls for -20, which basically feels downright tropical at this point. Also, I finally signed up with a rescue organization to foster cats (something I've always wanted to do but the timing never seemed right) and I've not got an adorable fluff ball named Furr-nando living with me. He was an outdoor cat until very recently so he's mostly just hiding from me and our cat Conkers right now but he gets a little more comfortable every day and has started to come to me for cuddles with more frequency. He really is a wonderful little guy!

Smiling on the Inside

A very long day of meetings seemed like a good opportunity to wear this striped blazer that never fails to put a smile on my face (I know there's no actual smile on my face because is there ever, but I am definitely smiling on the inside). You know what doesn’t put a smile on my face or inspire an inner smile? Sitting in meetings all day.

Powerless to Resist a Poncho

Okay, so there’s a reasonable chance I may have a poncho problem in that, lately, when I see one, I’m powerless to refuse its pull. Guys, I have issues.

This was worn out a few Saturdays ago because, after a. year and of a half of regularly massacring Eleanor’s bangs with my at-home trim jobs, I finally took her to get her first haircut! She actually did pretty well and looked crazy adorable.

I was recently approached to review a book proposal for an academic publishing house and got paid in books – so I jumped on this and am really excited to read it. It looks like such an interesting topic.
