The Blahs
Now that we’ve been having some warmer temperatures here the landscape is rather gross, with brown, muddy, half-melted snow everywhere – this is the part of winter that I really dislike. Sure, it’s a bit warmer out, but it’s infinitely less pretty and magical. I dressed to match my blah mood for a day of running errands…

All the Frills: Uncharted Territory
I am about to embark on what is, for me (no one else, just me), a bold experiment. I am an inveterate planner. As in I cannot live without my day timer (jammin’ on my planner, for Parks and Rec fans, is basically my motto). I write down and plan everything in there. It’s ridiculous – like I literally schedule time in November of every year to buy a new planner and fill it out with set deadlines for the coming year (when to get my Festivus decorations up, when to make a dental appointment, etc – yes, I’m that anal and silly). But, this year, I’ve downsized. I’ve gone from a large, trust format to this very, very (for me) streamlined and smaller day timer. And I’m scared. I’ve already started to fill it out in very small, very neat handwriting (there’s no margin for error in something with so little space) and already had to resort to inserting post-its with more details written out in some places. Downsizing my day timer is very new and very scary … someone tell me I’m not totally nuts, please?
Weekend Reading:
Weekend Reading:
- This looks like a great conference – sign me up!
- These are some amazing images of female protestors around the world.
- Natalie Portman’s dress (well, the cape, more properly) made the Oscars for me.
- I’m still chuckling over the reviews of Cats (which was unsurprisingly, a disaster of a fever dream). I read them all when it first came out, laughed a lot, then took a break and am re-reading them now. Still hilarious!
- This is beyond horrifying.
- As is this. I mean this is pretty disgusting.

Ruffled
I feel like a somewhat dissolute eighteenth-century poet in this dress – owing, of course, to the sleeves. I am also more than okay with that.

Winter Wardrobe Essential
As per usual for me, this is a poorly done photo but I wanted to capture something of me in this long, hooded cardigan that is a winter wardrobe essential for me. Maybe soon the sun will start to come up before 8:30 am and I’ll actually be able to get decent photos before my daily commute to work …

Sweater Vest?
I picked up this black, drapey, sleeveless thing on a whim, unsure if it would be something that I’d really get much wear out of it – but then the weather here plunged down to -35 for a spell and I’ve never been so thankful for extra layering pieces in my life!
