Sparkle, Sparkle (and a Flash of Bling)

I have a holiday party to attend! I wish I could go wearing one these holiday frocks – they all have just the right amount of flash and sparkle for an evening of wine, cheese, and lively grad student holiday cheer.

The Prix Fixe Dress by ModCloth ($94.99)

The Geode to Joy Dress by ModCloth ($47.99)

The Cinema Foyer Dress by ModCloth ($139.99)

And for more style inspiration, some sparkly and soaring heels (or maybe some flats because sometimes you wind up standing for hours at these things) and maybe a little bling and a cute clutch.
Willoby from Aldo ($40)

Gones from Aldo ($80)

Carthon by Aldo ($125)

Shuffler by Aldo ($30)

Lickert by Aldo ($45)

Voncile's Pave CZ Fleur de Lis Necklace by emitations ($75)

Nadine's Dramatic Bamboo Circle Necklace by emitations ($249)

Or, if I decide to get my Marlene Dietrich on, maybe this super sleek and sexy tuxedo from Zara.

That is a fascinating tuxedo. Are those leggings? (The dress next to it is pretty stunning, too.)

Sometimes I almost wonder if such killer style is ACTUALLY worn to grad student parties and the like. You know what I'm talking about- often we dream high-fashion and eclectic but end up donning the same LBD with a different necklace or whatnot. And if such an outfit DOES make it, is it wasted in the atmosphere?

Just some fodder for thought :) Who knows, your grad student parties could be much more glamorous than ones I've been to!

Fabulous pics! Love the Cinema dress, I love nudes! You could totally pull this off with your coloring, too! Love it! XX!

@ Tessa - one of the things that I love the most about the humanities grad students that I've met in the last five years is that they are a very fashionable lot! At least two or three times a year (and especially over the holidays) someone throws a consciously "fancy pants" party where dressing up in the your nicest duds as the order of the day. And that's fantastic because otherwise I would never have a chance to dress up.

You select some amazing items. I really love the second dress and the shoes are also amazing.
