Is There a Support Group for Leopard Print Addicts?

Shortly after Halloween I won a CSN gift certificate in a giveaway offered by the very talented Jessica over at Marvelous Things. And what you ask did I spend my winnings on? Well, I’ll tell. This fabulously cool pair of leopard print, red patent shoes by Demonia.

They won’t be terribly practical for wearing to conferences or to teach in, but I love them. For my fellow academics out there, do you find that you opt for more conservative shoes in the classroom or are you comfortable wearing shoes that make a bit more of a statement? This is actually the third pair of leopard print shoes that I’ve purchased and I don’t think I’ve ever worn any of them in an academic setting (well, maybe once or twice), but when I pair with them with a monochromatic outfit (to make the shoes really pop), I think they work great for a casual look.

And remember when I said I picked up a few excellent things on a Boxing Week shopping excursion? Well here is the first of my many finds, a leopard print, 50s cut coat from H&M that I eyeing before the holidays ($60) and is now mine for the enviable price of $20.

I love sales! Animal print jackets are quite a trend this year and sometimes they can be tricky to wear, especially the ones made of faux fur. I prefer animal print jackets such as this one just because I think they have a more classic look that’s easier to style – for example, skinny jeans, boots, and a little beret can me a perfect pairing with a jacket like this. A pencil skirt and wedge booties would also be a great way to style it. Again, this coat might be a bit too flamboyant for professional wear but I still think it’s a great addition to my closet. How do you style your animal prints?

I noticed you were wearing a subtle animal print on Saturday when I saw you, as well. I love the little jacket and wish I lived in a place where they could be worn more than a month out of the year!

that coat looks stunning on you lady. I used to be a teacher and, maybe it's because I taught Humanities, literature and languages basically, I was a tad flamboyant with my style. I know I got looked at by fellow colleagues who thought of me as a "bit out there" but students loved me and saw me as more approachable, which is what I really am. I guess it depends also on where you are teaching and if there are any set rules?
My name is Jess and I'm a true leopard print freak - this Christmas I added a robe, socks, heart shaped pendant, cardigan and even a hot water bag all in said animal print. SO wrong, yet I just love it ;)

I love your coat and your shoes! Animal prints never go out of style. And I love leopard prints. I actually have a purple and black leopard-print dress I bought last year that I pair with skinny jeans.

leopard print really suits you! im not a teacher or anything but i do commute 3 hours a day, im all about aerosoles. i did have a few profs and TA's in college that had some WILD accessories (art history classes), and I adored them. great shoes and i love the decor behind them in the photos.
also, there is NO FREAKING way that skins US will be as good as the original. Its not even new plot lines, so not only do we know whats going to happen, but its no going to be as racy/raunchy/awesome because this is the US and we are still puritans. the office probably would never have been as successful here if it premiered now in the age of netflix when we can watch all the brit shows online and know in advance that american remakes will suck. ya know?

You look great in the coat. It lights up your face gal! If there is a support group for leopard-bittens, I should probably make plans to come as well...

One should never apologize for a leopard print addiction - it should be celebrated! I have a leopard print skirt I like to pair with red accessories and a zebra print bag which doesn't get nearly as much air time as it deserves :)

CUUUTE!! I love leopard print! I have a pair of leopard ballet flats and I love the pop they bring to certain outfits. I think you can get away with it on a professional level, maybe in small doses like shoes or a belt. It's too stylish not too!

Oh my God, I've been loving leopard lately...I really need to get myself some leopard-print accessories, preferably some cute flats and a scarf! I really like that coat....red leopard isn't really my style, but the jacket is beautiful! I've seen some great faux fur leopard jackets around and they're definitely on my shopping list.

If there isn't a support group, there sure should be. At least an offshoot of shoppers anonymous. Good luck with your problem, and with your killer new shoes.

when i taught second grade, i wore heels ever single day. i feel more professional or put together (totally just a mental thing, of course you can look the same in flats) when i'm wearing them. i didn't catch what grade you teach, but i think if i was a high-school teacher, i might tone down my outfits a bit. younger kids don't really focus on fashion or appearance as much as older kids, and i wouldn't want it to be a distraction.
