Winter Wonderland

I guess you can look at this as sort of a wintry retrospective. These shots are sort of a grab bag, some from Canada and some more recent.

These are from Edmonton and feature my alma mater, the University of Alberta, draped in snowy beauty, and me in my striped top from Target (which I seem to be wearing at least once a week).

And these chronicle my attempt to venture outside to see a movie after the recent snow storm that hit Connecticut and the east coast.

In the end I decide that I’d rather be inside curled up on my sofa and watching the winter weather than actually being outside in it so I retreated and spent the afternoon reading this fabulous (and fabulously large) Christmas gift that I got: In Vogue, an illustrated history of the magazine. This is really a lovely book and the early history of Vogue is fascinating so if you ever have a chance to check it out I highly recommend it.

And here's a little taste of what New Haven looked like before the blizzard hit (and it's largely returned to this now).

As I mentioned, I'll be in Boston this weekend for a conference (a friend and I are training there and I have plans to meet up with several historian friends there and even another blogger so I'm really excited) so my internet access will be limited but I'll try to reading blogs as much as I can and I'll be back in full on Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!

What a great present, the photographs must be wonderful. Love that first shot of the snow, looks like something out of The Secret History.

Nice pics and nice couture suggestions too! There's no snowy winter here so i'm pleased to see it at least online =P
The vibe reminded me a Keren Ann song (Dimanche en Hiver)

BRR looks cold outside there! I like the striped top it's cute and simple...no surprise you wear it a lot.
I've never been to Edmonton but the company I work for is based out of there so maybe I'll make it up there someday.

I love winter wonderlands. The picture of the university dressed in snow is gorgeous. It should be used for a cover of the undergrad brochure. Bahhahaa.

WoohooO! My cousin goes to University of Alberta. Just in case you, you know, wanted to know haha.

And that book looks really interesting; I love looking at old Vogues, it's really fascinating to see how the magazine/industry/beauty has evolved over the year! And woohoo, I have that McQueen book. I have yet to read it though - I'm trying to savour it, mm.

Gorgeous! That looks like Providence! And I agree, pretty to look at out the window of your warm, cozy house, not so much to go out in! That book looks amazing, I think books make the best presents. Hope you're enjoying Boston! XX!

Your university looks so fabulous. I almost went there instead of U of T. I will definitely visit Alberta in the next few summers. :)

The vogue book looks fascinating. I am rather interested in the history of fashion myself. The story behind a creation the cultural heritage particularly fascinates me. I suppose the McQueen book will also be fascinating in that respect. Have a great weekend.

Look forward to hearing from you

I love fashion coffee table books! I received "In Vogue" for Christmas two years ago, and it is absolutely stunning....there are some beautiful photos in it, and I like how it is divided into sections by photographer. Also, that Alexander McQueen book looks fantastic!

Oh, winter season is here. I love your outfit! And I might be dealing with my patience later looking into my closet. To find out the best coat for this season. Oh, how can I get rid of these clutter in my closet. Hardly to see the right one. Coats are very essential this season and scarf as well.So I must find them very soon.
