Over the Top Swap!!!!

Tomorrow is my birthday!!!! Yay!!! Sorry, that’s not really relevant to anything I just get easily excited. I’ve actually had a pretty boring life lately, I’ve mostly just been writing my dissertation all day and all night. But I get a few shots of myself hard at work, at home with my kitty (in my super sharp-looking Hello Kitty pjs no less) and in the History study room at the library (which no one really seems to use and it’s a really pretty room). Yeah, boring. Sorry.

And now, a little something for my Edmonton and area based readers! It’s no secret that I am a HUGE fan of clothing swaps. In the past year and a half, I’ve hosted one and attended another and gotten oh so many fabulous items: like this and this and this and this. Well, on April 30 (10 am to 6 pm) and May 1 (11 am to 5 pm), at the Telus Baseball Field (10233-96 Avenue) in Edmonton, there is going to be an absolutely massive clothing swap. Here are the deets on this amazing event for fashion-savvy Edmontonians straight from the organizers, Ally Ng and Cory Payne:

“The event is called the Over the Top Fashion Swap. Exclusive to the Over the Top Swap, swapper’s receive swap tokens that they can use to “buy” anything you like from the swap. They will receive gold, silver or bronze swap tokens for each item they bring in based on quality, condition and style. This helps ensure that everyone is getting equal value for the great garments that they are bringing in. At the event swappers can choose from literally thousands of one-of-kind clothing items and accessories. Event goers can indulge in a complimentary make over or professional beauty treatment. Stroll through the marketplace and find that perfect accessory or one-of-a-kind gift. Watch a spring fashion show showcasing some great finds from the swap; and pose for glamour photos. We are thrilled to work with two amazing charities in tandem on this event. All remaining clothing and accessories from the fashion swap will be donated to the Canadian Diabetes Association Clothesline and the Bissell Centre to support those in need. Last year we collected over 250 bags for these charities – this year we are planning to collect 500 bags.” The event will also feature access to spa services and complimentary make-overs. Basically, “it’s a place where local fashionistas can get their fashion fix while feeling the rush of a shopping spree — all without breaking the bank.”

This event sounds seriously amazing and I encourage all my Edmonton and area readers to take advantage of this and get out there and swap! Tickets are available at any early drop-off event ($20) or on the day of the event ($25). Men can participate all weekend long for only $10. A limited number of early bird tickets can be purchased
for ($15), online here and for more information you can visit here. Admission includes complimentary hair and make-up touch-ups, access to the fashion swap, marketplace, and pay as you go spa services as well as complimentary massages for gold swappers. For those who don’t wish to partake in the swap, $10 at the door will provide you with access to the marketplace, spa and fashion show.

That study room is gorgeous. I am super jealous. All we have is the main campus library -- which is filled with wasps during warm weather. This means I study at home. In sweats. Looking gross.

P.S. HAPPY ALMOST FRIGGIN' BIRTHDAY!!!
