Problem Solver

So I bought this dress from ModCloth several months ago when it was marked down to about $10 and, even though I think it’s really pretty, it’s also not something that I really get a lot of wear out of because it’s very short, very sheer, and has a little sequined heart pocket on the front that is just a bit too cutesy for my liking. The solution to this little problem of mine? Layer a top over the dress so only the darling sequined collar is visible and pair it with a pleated skirt. I’m a problem solver people.

skirt: found on Amazon / dress worn as blouse: ModCloth / top: Target / tights: Marshall’s / purse: Kimchi Blue via Urban Outfitters / shoes: Toms / ring: Bumblebee Tuna via Etsy

The sequin collar is so pretty! Now I'm also curious to see the dress in its natural state! :)

Haha, so basically you got a sequin collar for $10, which is pretty darn good ;) Gotta love finding ways to wear items you normally wouldn't wear a lot ;)

I adore the sequined collar, it's the little details that can make something so great! Hope you're having a great week!

The collar alone was worth $10, in my opinion! I love how this looks with a sweater layered over it - so cute! And, if you get sick of it, I bet that collar would be perfect for a DIY project. I can never take that plunge with items that cost much more.

I LOVE this look! The sequin collar adds a lot to this ensemble. I too fancy myself as a problem solver with clothing as I hate to waste money so I often improvise.

The collar of that dress is totally fabulous, and you already know I am slightly obsessed with that skirt.

Wow! Well done lady...it must be a pretty short dress to be worn as a blouse. I love the color combo here with the rich color of the dress/blouse with the black. Very pretty!

I love the pleated skirt, I use to have a pleated skirt... cue the violins, but I gained weight and can't fit into it anymore...

You look fetching and love your little style solutions.

i definitely like how you're using the sequin collar from the dress as an accent piece to your outfit. at least you put the dress to good use!

I am curios about the dress??? I wonder what other ways you could wear it. Maybe use a scarf, loose vest, or brooch to cover the pocket. Maybe layer the dress over a shift or camisole.
