You all know I’m a fan of glasses. I mean, I loves me my contacts but getting to bed at midnight and waking at 5:30 am is not always conducive to popping in lenses. Look Out World, I'm a Motorist

More of the series of photos from my last post. What I didn’t reveal last time was that I recently got my learner's license (go me)…and shortly after these photos I successfully drove the car for a grand total of 30 minutes on an icy highway (and it’s a standard so I also learned all about shifting gears).

Yeah, first you master the PhD, then you learn to do something everything else had mastered by the time they were 17. Seriously, go me!

Run DMC

I’m throwing some major bitch face in these photos. Don’t worry, I’m aware. It was cold outside and we were driving all around the Alberta countryside in the Run DMC (that’s our car’s name – the DMC stands for “Driving Miss Courtney” because at 32, I’m sans license…my parents never owned a car or had a license and so I never had occasion to learn). As you can tell, I have a lot to be irritated about.

The Bitter Cold

More winter stylin’. Have I mentioned it was insanely cold here in early February? Sorry, I’ll stop complaining soon, I promise. Okay, I probably won’t…

At least today is Valentine's Day so maybe my helpmeet can warm me up a little today. Unfortunately I am in the midst of grading my students' first midterm so I don't have much time to spare for any fun Valentine's stuff...but I'm hoping we can at least squeeze in a romantic dinner.

Winter Stylin’

Edmonton is cold in the winter you guys. Like really cold. Six winters in Connecticut have not prepared me for a northern Alberta one at all. The last few days have been not too shabby but it was -40 with the wind chill in the not too distant past. WTF??
