The Back-Up Plan

Regular readers are probably aware that I wear these studded Steve Madden boots an obscene amount – they’re my go-to shoes. Incredibly comfy and so perfectly me, I pair them with just about everything. Well, last week I had a mild panic attack about the fact that I wear them so frequently and they will probably start to fall apart at some point in the near future at this rate but, by then, they would likely not be “on trend” anymore and, therefore, might not be easily replaceable. So I dashed out, somewhat compulsively, to my local mall and bought the last pair in my size that were in stock to squirrel away in my closet for the day when my current pair dies.

Do you ever buy multiples of favoured clothing items in the interest of having a back-up article or pair of something?

Haha! Shoes hoarder?! LOL
But seriously there's nothing wrong with making sure that you have backup just in case it's time to let go of the first pair. Sure I've done that especially with jeans. They always say that if a piece of clothing (or shoes) works and you wear it enough it's ok to invest in a few more of the same thing. There's your justification :)

I totally get it. I have some beloved shoes falling to bits and I don't know what to do since I can't find a suitable replacement! You had the right idea Courtney!

That is definitely a good plan. I'm regretting not doing that with my favorite pair of jeans. I wore them again today and it is getting even clearer that they are on their way out...so depressing!

I think that's smart! I am too cheap to buy multiples, but there are a lot of times I wish I had. :( I totally really LOVE that velvet blazer, btw. especially with that shirt! Is it not hot yet where you are? I'm jealous of your blazer weather!

love the unintended color coordination amongst your hair, lips, and jacket. i tried so dang hard to achieve this shade with kool-aid as a kid. gorgeous.

I've definitely done that, i tend to do it with black denim for some reason I have many pairs of black denim jeans in various fabric styles! I think those boots are amazing, I'd wear them loads of times too. And, what a beautiful vintage blazer on you! xx/Madison

I love that you actually had the presence of mind to go out and buy a second pair of these boots! I have often wished that I had done exactly that... particularly with good boots, which can be so hard to find. I had the perfect pair of black boots from Aldo and was able to replace them twice {because sadly, they didn't last more than a season with the amount I wore them} which gave me sartorial overconfidence and, when they went on clearance, I ignored it... Little did I know that Aldo would stop making the style forever! Sigh. I'm glad you were cleverer than I was :)

I love the rationalizing. I should have done this with my favorite Toms that my dog chew up.

I LOVe the boots! I would wear them all the time too! I feel you on having back-ups! I did that with a pair of my favorite ankle booties. When you find a shoe you love so much why not have a spare :)

I love your outfit. And I have always loved those shoes every time I've seen them on your blog. I think it was such a smart decision to purchase another pair. Occasionally if something fits me amazing well and makes me look great I do buy two (or maybe three) of them. It has also happened to me numerous times in the past that something I loved became unwearable and I regretted not purchasing a back up when it was possible to.

Love it! you look very pretty. Love your studded booties, they suit you very well plus they are totally hot.
I am so glad I am not the only one who does that. I do that when I really like a pair of shoes, or clothes.
