Some Things I'd like to Erase From My Mind

So these photos are a bit traumatic for me. These were taken just a couple of hours before my ob-gyn appointment went irreparably sideways and I was rushed in for an emergency C section (I write about it here). Anyways, I’m mostly just trying to push all thoughts of my actual birth experience with my daughter from my mind (it was scary, traumatizing, and just all around horrific) and focus, rather, on all those perfect moments that started to roll in after my post-surgery drugs wore off and I could actually start doing things like visit Eleanor Elizabeth Medea in the the NICU and spend quality time with her. I debated deleting these photos all together but the historian in me refuses to allow myself to just erase the record. So here they are.

I've always liked that blazer!
And yes, I would focus on all the amazing things that have happened since then to make all that worth it. A beautiful baby girl! :)

I'm sure these photos bring back some seriously painful memories- but you survived it + powered through with your partner and care team, so I'm glad you didn't delete 'em. Plus, you look AMAZING. So chic and badass.

It's interesting that the historian in you is the one who felt the need to keep these photos. It's pretty rare that I delete photos we've taken but it does happen and it's never for a reason as significant as the one you would have deleted these for...!

Face things, move on :)
Much easier said than done, but you have so much to look forward to that it will soon be replaced by only positive moments. I would have never guessed that just a few hours later your baby would have been born, you look so well put together.
