All the Frills: Book Reviews

I can’t believe it’s been almost two years since my book came out! Over the past year it has been reviewed in a few major journals in my field (hello Journal of British Studies and the English Historical Review) and a few more minor ones and I’ve been reading them with a certain level of detachment (the reviews are overall positive (with a negative one or two, as is to be expected) but I’m pretty far removed from it all this point so I don’t really focus too much on them). It’s hard to fully express just how fully and completely my life has changed since I was knee deep in the research and writing process for this book. It legitimately feels like a lifetime ago.

Still so amazing to be a published author, and good for you for not taking the reviews to seriously.

Loved those met ball gowns, especially the space themed one worn by Thalia.

I cannot believe it`s been that long. I am not sure I could be mature enough to read a review in total detachment.

It's a strange thing about writing a book - when you're in it, you are so all in it that it can consume your entire life and it feels like the process will never end. But the process does end, and time goes on, and at a certain point you almost forget what it was like to live through that writing process. At least that's how it's been for me. My first book feels like eons ago.
