All the Frills: Holding On To the Holidays

I know Christmas has come and gone but I’m still in a moderately festive spirit (shocking, I know) so today I’m featuring handmade Christmas cards that both myself and my mother have made over the years. She’s really into stamping and card making and very skilled at it. For a period of several years I’d join her annually in designing and making about 7-10 different designs (40-50ish overall cards) each holiday season.

So, for a while there, everyone I gave a card to got one of these handmade ones and I of, course, saved some for myself and was also the recipient of some truly beautiful ones from my mother. Since Eleanor came along I just haven’t had the time it takes to design and hand make 40-50 Christmas cards each year so it’s fallen by the wayside but every year when I decorate for the holidays I take out a small selection of the ones that I have (all with different designs) and display them.

Ooh so pretty! I don't do Christmas cards because I'm lazy but for the past 8+ years my Mom has been making quilt Christmas cards! She buys the photo card holders and then makes a little 5x7 holiday themed quilt square to put in! So cute

The cards are stunning - I'm particularly smitten with the last one, the stamp work is absolutely breathtaking. I am not a card person at all. I can't remember the last time I sent a card, if I am completely honest. But I always love receiving them, especially when they are special like these ones.

I just love cards, they are one of my biggest weaknesses, and if I were to receive a handmade card as gorgeous as yours, I'd likely keep it forever. I used to always send out christmas cards and even did an exchange through the blog for several years which was a lot of fun, though these past few years I've failed to send any. I bought them though, because I still love them.
