To the Pool!

The department here at the University of Alberta in which I earned my BA and MA, History and Classics, recently invited me to come and speak with current graduate students as a part of a series of workshops on pursuing non-academic careers. Apparently I have a successful career that other history PhD candidates should hear about. Good for me.

This outfit really has nothing to do with any of the above but I wanted to share it nonetheless. This "tunic" I'm sporting is actually a pool cover up that I snagged at Target because I loved the pattern and didn't really give a crap about what it's intended use was. That and my apparently successful career are things worth celebrating.

tunic: Target / leggings: ASOS / boots: Target / cardigan: Pins + Needles / bracelets: Aldo

Okay seriously, you crack me up. Also, how is this dress intended to be a beach cover up? I'm pretty sure Target got things horribly wrong and you just corrected their error.

Yayyy, that's pretty exciting!!!
And hmm, that's weird...doesn't look like a coverup to me! Looks great as a dress

A beach cover up with exposed zippers? Well, i'd totally wear it the way you did, as a dress! The print is really pretty too. Well done you on the speaking engagement. :)

AWESOME POSSUM, YO. I wish that schools also paid more attention to non-academic opportunities and exposing students to those connections/possibilities. Hopefully, you had lots of interesting questions!

And wha wha? that is a cover up? It looks awesome and so NOT like a cover up!

Pool coverup, dress with awesome, functioning zip pockets, tomato...

But huge congrats on being asked to speak at your alma mater, it's safe to assume you are the most successful person in your class, so no reason not to brag.

I love the colors of your tunic...I mean beach coverup, lol. It remind me of a watercolor and I think it works better for fall/winter than it would for summer.

Also, just found your blog via Girl and Closet and love it.
