Reviewed

So I was asked by a journal to review a book for them and, guys, it’s a really tough slog. This book is just bonkers. As in I can barely decipher it. And I like to think that I’m pretty competent when it comes to this type of stuff (I mean, I am a doctor) but, wow, just wow. The main problem is that it’s not about something in my area of expertise. In fact, it’s rooted mostly in other disciplines like art history and musicology and I just do not have a grasp on the theoretical and technical ideas and terminology being brought to bear. Having read the book I am now at the writing stage and I’m finding it pretty tough to encapsulate things effectively and write a just review. Remind me not to sign up for stuff like this again…

But enough rambling. This is one of my staple work outfits - just basic black (pretty much what you'd expect of me) but with a bit of colour added care of this Stella & Dot necklace.

dress: Banana Republic / necklace: Stella & Dot

Sorry the book is a disaster - do you at least get to be one of those tough critics who completely pans it?

YOU CAN DO IT!!! I have total faith in you. I'm sure that once you start writing and editing the review, you'll come up with something awesome. Like this outfit! That necklace is amazing!

Sounds like you're in a review jam, girl. Bummer! Maybe a glass of wine (or two...?) will help the process? Wasn't it Hemingway who said something about writing drunk + editing sober? :)

Oh my goodness, this review project sounds like something else... but once you've finished, I'm sure you'll be very justified in rewarding yourself with something fabulous ;)

I love your necklace and earrings- they really pop with your black outfit.
And good luck with the review! I'm sure with your own projects going on this is the last thing you want to be devoting time to, but I'm with Cee...maybe a little treat once you've finished?
