All the Frills: Apparently I Do Things in Triplicate

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I had somehow managed to acquire three floral print dresses in my closet. Well, apparently, I’ve also managed to acquire three moto style jackets. There’s a chance I have some kind of weird problem related to buying things in triplicate.

What Is Happening With Florals and Me?

I recently mentioned here that I’ve somehow managed to acquired an oddly significant number of floral patterned things. I mean not odd in general but odd for me as, as I’ve commented in other posts, I’m not really much of a florals person – but I can definitely get on board with a black and grey floral print.

All the Frills: Hitting the Florals Hard

Nothing beats adding some fresh flowers to your living space (even more so when one arrangement is a classy gift from your significant other and the other is a centerpiece you took home after a work event).

• Normally I would consider that whole Kendall Jenner, Pepsi ad thing to be too stupid and transitory to weigh in on, but a whole lot of good stuff was floating around the internet on that one, and this one as pretty good.
  
• I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the world needs heroes. This grammar warrior is a good place to start.

Gloriously Done

You can’t tell from these photos but, underneath my sunglasses, there is a look of utter serenity and contentment in my eyes. Why? Because I’ve finished with the review of the page proofs for my book and also with the massive project of the index! I’m done guys, gloriously and blissfully done!

All the Frills: Florals

For someone who usually shies away from most patterns (tartan/plaid and leopard prints not included), I’ve somehow managed to wind up with three floral print dresses in my closet. Maybe I’m more inclined toward prints than I imagined.

Fancy Pants

Look who got herself some maternity jeans and is now revelling in comfort? This gal! And on that note, I’m obsessed with Old Navy’s amazing collection of maternity wear – seriously, I bought three pairs of jeans and they are all stylish, well-fitted, very comfortable, and at a perfect price point for pants that are meant to be transitory.

The Coziest of Non-Maternity Dresses

As mentioned in my last post, I’ve officially “popped” and am quite obviously pregnant now. While some days I’m not just feeling it and prefer not to emphasize that, other days I weirdly revel in displaying my fecundity, which is when this dress gets pulled into service. It also helps that, despite not being a maternity dress proper, it’s insanely comfortable for that purpose – the material is so soft and stretchy!

Operatic

I wore this to the opera a couple of weeks ago with my dad – Richard Strauss’s Electra, inspired by the Sophoclean drama and a favourite episode in Greek myth of mine (seriously, I dressed up as Clytemnestra for Halloween one year….it’s safe to say that I basically spent most of the night explaining my costume). Anyways, the thing I love about this outfit is how not pregnant I look in it! As you’ll be able to see in an upcoming outfit post, I have most definitely “popped” and so I sort of felt like I was hiding in plain sight in this outfit in terms of how well it camouflaged things.

I'm Doing My Best....

Worn out to a friend’s birthday party. I’m pretty sad at most outings these days, especially those that involve going to bars at 10 pm. I can usually make it until about 11 pm and then I need to crawl home because I’m thoroughly exhausted. Hey, I’m doing the best I can!
