Rock You Like a Hurricane (How Has That Not Been Used Yet?)

Hurricane Irene hit over the weekend – by the time it reached New Haven it had been downgraded to a tropical storm but it was still pretty crazy. Damage was minimal (thankfully) but a few stately old trees were uprooted, including a lovely one on the grounds of building that, unfortunately, toppled over onto someone’s car. Yikes. I had some friends over for wine, sangria, and poker and then stayed up until 5 am so that I would have a chance to see a bit of the storm (it hit between 4 am and 11 am). I even threw on my rubber boots and a rain jacket and went outside for 20 minutes to really hear the roaring wind and feel the lashing rain. I know it sounds a little nuts but I just couldn’t restrain myself. I hope everyone else weathered the storm well and emerged unscathed. And now, onwards and upwards!

I am so ready for fall fashion people! So, so ready. The Missoni for Target look book is feeding my fall-fueled dreams of the fashion trends to come this season.

Classes start up here soon (in 2 days actually, yikes) and I’m already planning my wardrobe for teaching Ancient Greek history, and it will definitely include this sequin t-shirt and a whole mess of blazers. Is anyone else as excited as me for the onset of fall?

I am not a fan of winter but it has been so hot that this time I am really looking forward to it.

Seriously, how has 'Rock you like a Hurricane' not been used? That is one of my favorite songs of all time.

My boyfriend and I also stood on our deck during the storm, granted, we waited awhile and it was just some wind and rain.

Love the outfit, those pants are super flattering, your legs look great.

I LOVE the Missoni x Target capusle collection...though I doubt they'll have it in Buffalo!

Classes start in a week for me. I've been off for so long that I'll probably forget how to write an essay! Best of luck with the teaching gig!

Even though it is back to the stressful, anxiety-laden semester, I am super happy to be back in the swing of things. I was getting bored.

I'm so glad to hear that everything is okay between you and Irene. She really was a bitch.
