I'm Lazy and It Shows Most in My Hair

Because our lock down measures were tightened considerably here over December and much of January, I found myself at the start of the new year in a place of “man, I really, really need a haircut.” Then restrictions relaxed a little but my work went into overdrive at around the same time and lately I’ve been too exhausted outside of work to do anything other than nap on the couch and watch reruns of Real Housewives of New York, which means I am continuing to woefully neglect my hair. Thank god for cute hair clips so I can at least pin back the truly unruly bits and get them out of my face.

All Glamour, All the Time

Ah, the non-stop glamour of working from home (I think the expression on my face says it all). It probably doesn’t help that my home “office” is actually a table in my bedroom (it’s one of the few rooms where Eleanor doesn’t hang out and it has a lock on the door, which means she can’t fool around with my computer and papers). There’s something incredibly depressing about my work station being the first thing I see in the morning when I open my eyes in bed and the last thing I see at night before I fall asleep.

Time Has No Meaning Anymore

Just preparing for another week of working from home and associated and existential crises. It's looking like I'd be lucky to get back into my office by September (honestly, it'll probably be months after that) so I've still got a ways to go.

On the plus side, I spent most of the Christmas break daytime potty training Eleanor and I am beyond happy to say that, after weeks of trial and error and frustration, she’s taking to it incredibly well. Now I just have to tackling overnight potty training, which fills me with dread.

New Year, Definitely Not a New Me

So this was New Years Eve. Donned my Real Housewives of NYC themed sweatshirt, hooked up with some friends over Zoom, and drank Chardonnay. I think the look on my face pretty much says it all.

All the Frills: Mini Great Hall

I always love walking past this little space in my house. I deliberately set this up with reference to the great hall of an early modern English estate or manor house and it continues to remind me of those spaces – which, as an historian of early modern England, is pretty perfect for me.

Why the Hell Not at this Point?

Threw on some sequins and a star headband for some Zoom cocktails with friends. Because why the hell not at this point?
